The FAA has granted technical standard order approval for a major software update on Universal Avionics’ SBAS flight management system.

The FAA has granted technical standard order approval for a major software update on Universal Avionics’ SBAS flight management system.

The avionics system is certified on more than 50 aircraft, including the 737, 747, Q-Series and Embraer regional jets, and the new release adds features including a module that provides advanced fuel saving predictions for aircraft performance in climb, cruise and descent.

Other features include a maximum indicated airspeed display, improved selected crosstrack function and continuous updates for SBAS level of service.
