AA Confirms Record Q2 $1.7bn Net Profit

American Airlines (AA) achieved a record second quarter net profit of $1.7bn, nearly doubling Q2 2014’s profit of $864m.

American Airlines (AA) achieved a record second quarter net profit of $1.7bn, nearly doubling Q2 2014’s profit of $864m.

In a statement released on Friday (July 24), AA said that although second quarter revenues fell by 4.6 per cent year-over-year to $10.8bn, this was offset by a $1bn saving in fuel costs.

The Fort Worth-based carrier said it expects to achieve fuel savings in excess of $4bn for the whole of 2015. AA CEO Doug Parker said the airline was “bullish” over the results and is accomplishing more than expected since merging with US Airways two years ago.
