AA Plans $2bn Refit Programme

American Airlines (AA) is to invest $2bn in upgrading its fleet in 2015.

As part of its “Going for Great” programme, AA will introduce lie-flat seats in first and business class on almost all widebody aircraft and expanded in-flight entertainment choices.

The carrier is to add wi-fi access on all its 777s and A330s, as well as all retrofitted 767-300s and 757s, and all 787s.

AA is scheduled to take delivery of 112 aircraft next year, followed by 84 in 2016.

Those on order include A320, A350-900, 737 MAX, 777-300ER and 787 aircraft.
