American Airlines (AA) has confirmed that its subsidiary PSA Airlines will take 24 CRJ900 NextGen aircraft to fly under the banner of regional carrier American Eagle.

The deal, announced as an order from an unidentified customer last December, is part of Fort Worth-based AA exercising 24 of 40 CRJ900 options placed in December 2013.

PSA said deliveries of the aircraft will begin from November 2015, with completion set for August 2016.

The order is valued at approximately $1.14bn at current list prices.

PSA will add the 24 aircraft to 30 previously announced CRJ900s and an additional 47 CRJ700s.
