Greek carrier Aegean Airlines has entered into an agreement for Rockwell Collins to provide its air-to-ground data link communications offering to send and receive real-time aircraft and engine data to improve maintenance operations.

Rockwell said among other benefits associated with its ARINC GLOBALink solution is improved departure control and turnaround for airlines and the uploading of gate connection information to aircraft inflight entertainment displays.

“Adding data link capability to our fleet will further enhance the effectiveness of our operation and help to improve service to our customers,” said Nikos Panagiotopoulos, Aegean’s operations manager.

Aegean currently operates a fleet of 61 aircraft, consisting of 38 A320s, eight A321s, one A319, four Dash 8-100s, 10 Dash8-Q400s and two ATR turboprops.
