The board of Irish flag carrier Aer Lingus has confirmed it is willing to accept IAG’s revised €1.36bn ($1.5bn) takeover offer.

Aer Lingus said completion of the deal is subject to IAG “addressing the interests of relevant parties”, which include staff, unions and the carrier’s shareholders Ryanair and the Irish government, which own 29.8 and 25.1 per cent of Aer Lingus respectively.

If the takeover is successful, IAG said it intends to operate Aer Lingus as a separate business with its own brand, management and operations.
