Aeroflot Offers Onboard Wi-Fi to 26 Long-Haul Aircraft

Russia’s Aeroflot is set to introduce Wi-Fi internet access onboard its long-haul aircraft. The service will be on all 26 long-haul aircraft by Q4 2013. 15 of the aircraft will be equipped with the service in Q1 2013, currently already available on five A330s. 22 A330s and four 777s will make up the fleet that will connect to the internet via satellite-based onboard Wi-Fi. The programme has been developed with ‘OnAir’, an inflight connectivity services provider, and will use Inmarsat’s satellite networks. Aeroflot will continue introducing the onboard Wi-Fi Internet programme on 777 aircraft, making Wi-Fi Internet available on six 777s in 2014, three 777s in 2015 and three 777s in 2016.
