Afriqiyah Airways Signs FL Technics Base Maintenance Deal

Lithuanian MRO FL Technics has signed a base maintenance contract with Libyan carrier Afriqiyah Airways.

In a move signalling the firm’s expansion into Africa, FL Technics will carry out maintenance work on the airline’s all-Airbus fleet, which consists of A319s, A320s, A330s and A340 aircraft types.

It confirmed the first aircraft – an A320 – is already stationed at its hangar in Kaunas where it will undergo A- and C-checks.

Zilvinas Lapinskas, FL Technics' CEO, said the company has capitalised on the growing number of African airlines looking to Europe for MRO partners due to instability and political interference in the region.
