Air Canada has ordered two new 777-300ER aircraft after posting its highest ever quarterly results.

The Canadian flag carrier confirmed that Q3 2014 saw its best financial results in its 77-year history, with its net income rising 25.2 per cent year on year and profits increasing eight per cent.

In line with its plans to further boost capacity, the airline has signed a deal with Boeing for two additional 777-300ER aircraft, worth $660m at list prices.

Currently Air Canada operates 23 777 aircraft, including 17 -300ERs.
