Air France will retire its final 747 aircraft on Sunday (January 10) after more than 40 years of operating the widebody.

The French flag carrier will fly the aircraft for the final time on a route from Mexico City to Paris Charles De Gaulle airport after transitioning to the more modern A380 and 737-300ER.

It has already began selling off retired 747s, with Icelandic ACMI specialist Air Atlanta acquiring two of the aircraft in December 2015.
