Air France has announced the name of its new regional airline – ‘HOP!’ It said the new carrier would aim “to become the reference airline on inter-regional routes in France and Europe with a competitive offer”. HOP! has been created through the merger of Air France’s three regional units Brit Air, Regional Air and Airlinair in order to be more competitive in the low-cost sector. The new airline will operate 530 daily flights to 136 destinations in France and Europe, commencing on March 31, 2013. Its fleet consists of 98 aircraft with between 48 and 100 seats. The realignment of Air France’s low-cost operations comes as part of its three-year ‘Transform 2015’ cost-cutting plan.
