Flag carrier Air New Zealand (ANZ) has ceased 737 operations after conducting the aircraft’s last flight at the weekend.

The aircraft, which ANZ said is under negotiation to be sold, made its final journey on a flight from Auckland to Christchurch on Sunday (September 6).

Following the withdrawal of the last 737, ANZ will now use only Airbus aircraft in its narrowbody fleet consisting of 27 A320s.

ANZ said it made the decision to use the newer A320 instead of the 737 for its better fuel efficiency.
