Alitalia is reportedly considering buying a number of SSJ100-95 aircraft.

The airline first considered buying the SuperJet in 2010, but chose Embraer regional jets instead.

Nazario Cauceglia, CEO of Superjet International told the Itar-TASS newswire that he believes Etihad, which recently bought a 49 per cent stake in Alitalia, may now swing its decision to buy the aircraft.

However, in Etihad’s plan to trim Alitalia’s costs, it outlined actions to cut the carrier’s short-haul flights and the size of its fleet.
