Switzerland-headquartered Allied World is working with Airbus to provide a new aircraft hull insurance policy.

The insurance will be offered to airlines that purchase Airbus’ Runway Overrun Prevention System (ROPS), a software programme certified by EASA, the FAA and CAAC, which alerts pilots to the risk of runway excursions.

ROPS is currently in operation on around 200 aircraft, including A320s, A380s and Qatar Airways’ A350, and has been selected by operators of 1,500 aircraft which are yet to be delivered.
