American Airlines Contracts Akzonobel For Rebrand

American Airlines has contracted AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings to provide it with the paint system and technical assistance needed to paint over 600 of its aircraft as part of the airline’s fleet rebrand. AkzoNobel will use its ‘Aerodur 3001/3002’ base coat/clear coat paint system. The re-invented livery features stripes over a silver body, aiming to express the spirit of America, and will be coated with mica topcoat, giving it a classical metallic look. Three aircraft; a 737-800 and two 777-300s have already been painted and as from March the airline plans to complete 10 aircraft per month.
