ANA has said it will operate five non-scheduled, domestic 787 flights between May 26 and May 31, ahead of the resumption of scheduled services from June 1, 2013. The airline said the extra services are being offered “in anticipation of high passenger demand”. ANA has implemented modifications to all 17 of its 787s following the worldwide grounding of the aircraft type earlier this year after a number of battery problems. Osamu Shinobe, president and CEO, ANA, described the safety of passengers as the airline’s “number one priority” and said that ANA has conducted its own additional testing. Shinobe added that the 787 “remains a game-changing aircraft”.
