Japanese airline group ANA Holdings has placed a $1.3bn order with Airbus for three A380 aircraft to be operated by All Nippon Airways (ANA).

Once the first A380 is delivered in Q2 2018, ANA will be the first Japanese carrier to operate the widebody as it looks to expand its international network.

Fabrice Brégier, Airbus president and CEO, said the aircraft will help ANA overcome capacity constraints at its airport hubs in Tokyo.

The latest order by the airline group follows orders placed in 2014 and 2015 for 37 A320 family aircraft.
