ARJ21 Wins Farnborough Commitments

Chinese aircraft manufacturer Comac has signed an MoU with the Republic of Congo’s Ministry of Transport for the purchase of three ARJ21-700s. YanShang, a Chinese conglomerate, also signed an order to become the launch customer for a business-jet variant of the ARJ21, while Nanshan Group signed a letter of intent with Comac for two ARJ21 business jets. Development on the ARJ21-700 began more than a decade ago, but a number of certification issues have hindered progress. With the remaining issues seemingly now overcome, Comac intends to deliver 20 ARJ21 annually from 2018 and expects to fulfil its first overseas order in late-2016.
