An A320 operated by South Korean carrier Asiana Airlines skidded off the runway upon landing at Hiroshima Airport in Japan on Tuesday (April 14).

The aircraft, which was carrying 74 passengers and seven crew, was evacuated following the incident which resulted in 20 people suffering minor injuries.

Japan’s transport ministry, which has begun an investigation, said the incident may have been caused by the aircraft’s wheel clipping a nearby localiser facility when landing after investigators found damage to the tower and pieces from it on the aircraft’s left wheel.

French news agency AFP also reported that the aircraft had damage to the left side of its tail.
