Azul Brazilian Airlines has firmed up its order for 30 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft with an option for a further 20 in a deal worth $3.2bn at current list prices.
Embraer first confirmed Azul’s initial commitment for the next generation E-Jet at last year’s Farnborough Airshow.
The Barueri-based carrier is expected to take delivery of the first aircraft of its order in Q2 2020.
Azul CEO David Neeleman said: “The E2 will be the most advanced airplane in its category, providing a more than 20 per cent saving on fuel burn than the current model. That will be fundamental for maintaining our competitive fares and for growing in the domestic market.”
