Batam To Gain PW127 Capability

Lion Air, the Indonesian low-cost carrier, is planning to develop full MRO capabilities on the PW127 turboprop in conjunction with Lufthansa Technik.

<p>Lion Air, the Indonesian low-cost carrier, is planning to develop full MRO capabilities on the PW127 turboprop in conjunction with Lufthansa Technik.<p>The engine powers the ATR72-600 regional aircraft, of which Lion is one of the world’s largest operators via its Malaysian joint venture Malindo Air, and subsidiary Wings Abadi, which has 47 ATR72-500s and -600s in service. <p>Lufthansa Technik is to help Batam Aero Technic – Lion’s maintenance division – build up a PW127 facility, and in the interim maintain the engine at Lufthansa Technik Aero Alzey, its regional aircraft MRO arm.</p>
