Batik Air has announced fleet expansion plans, with the carrier aiming to have 16 aircraft in its fleet by the end of the year. It also intends to launch services to 12 new domestic destinations in Indonesia, as well as its first international service. “Our first international destination will be Singapore and we aim to have more than a daily service on the route from Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Singapore Changi Airport,” said Batik Air CEO Achmad Luthfie. The new domestic points this year will be: Banjarmasin, Batam, Gorontalo, Kendari, Medan, Padang, Palembang, Palu, Timika, Tarakan and Solo, subject to regulatory approval. The airline will add its first A320 in July and is scheduled to receive a total of six this year. Four 737-800s will be added in the second half of the year.
