Seventy four engineering apprentices have joined British Airways (BA) in schemes aimed at meeting the airline’s future maintenance needs.

The majority of the apprentices are set to join one of three engineering programmes on offer, which cover: industrial engineering; cabin appearance and engineering business support.

During a three-year programme, supported by Farnborough College of Technology, the recruits will combine classroom learning with on-the-ground training.

A dozen of the cabin appearance apprentices will complete a two-year scheme, focusing on how to improve and maintain the external appearance of BA’s fleet.
