The Competition Commission of India has given the green light for a merger between US-based Caelum Investment and Interglobe Aviation, the holding company of the Indian low-cost carrier, IndiGo.

The Competition Commission of India has given the green light for a merger between US-based Caelum Investment and Interglobe Aviation, the holding company of the Indian low-cost carrier, IndiGo.

The commission said that the merger is “not likely to have an appreciable adverse effect on competition in India”.

It added: “Furthermore, the proposed combination will not result in any changes either in the structure of the market or the number of entities present in the business of air transport and ancillary services in India.”

The pair first announced their plan to merge in May this year.
