Capacity Reduced And Utilisation Increased At Airberlin

Capacity utilisation at airberlin increased by 1.6 points to 79.8 per cent during 2012 compared with the previous year. The airline reduced capacity by eliminating unprofitable routes and optimising flight frequencies. Over 33m passengers were carried during 2012, 5.5 per cent fewer than the previous year. In December, airberlin increased its capacity utilisation rate by 3.1 points over the previous year, to 77.82 per cent, reducing capacity by around 12 per cent to 2,375,083 seats. Nearly two million passengers were carried in December, 8.5 per cent fewer than the same period last year.
