A Delta Air Lines-operated 767-300 was forced into making an emergency landing at Seattle airport early on Thursday (16 July) after one of its engines caught fire.

The fire on Delta flight 2469, which was carrying 255 passengers and eight crew from Anchorage to Atlanta, was extinguished in the air after pilots shut off the engine, according to a Seattle Airport spokesperson.

Delta spokesman Morgan Durrant said the airline’s preliminary investigation into the incident showed the engine experienced a power surge.
