Demolish London City, NEF Concludes

A report from thinktank the New Economics Foundation (NEF) has claimed that London would be better off without its central airport, London City. The airport mainly offers connections to other European business destinations, such as Geneva and Paris, and serves 2.4 per cent of flight demand from the capital. "City Airport creates little value; despite occupying 500,000 square metres at the heart of London, its direct contribution to the UK economy in 2011 was £110m – less than a fifth of the nearby Excel Exhibition and Conference Centre," the report stated. The airport itself claims to contribute £750m per year to the local economy and to employ 2,000 people.
