Etihad Airways is to expand its network across Africa having signed a codeshare with Kenya Airways, the national flag carrier of Kenya. Etihad will place its code on 27 of Kenya’s flight destinations, each from Nairobi. In return, Kenya will place its code on Etihad’s daily service from Nairobi to Abu Dhabi and, subject to government approval, on up to 32 key destinations across Etihad’s global network. Kenya Airways will also launch a thrice-weekly service between Nairobi and Abu Dhabi from the middle of 2013. Last year, Etihad launched new services to Tripoli, Nairobi and Lagos, and over the last five years has more than doubled its services to Africa. This agreement brings Etihad’s codeshares to 42 and its network to 349 destinations.
