Taiwan-based EVA Airways has announced its plans to order five new 777 freighter aircraft with Boeing as it looks to meet growing demand in the cargo market.

The airline confirmed the plans at the Paris Air Show today (June 15) in a deal valued at more than $1.5bn at current list prices.

EVA said it plans to grow its twin-aisle fleet to more than 60 aircraft by the end of 2025.

Boeing’s World Air Cargo Forecast highlights a 4.7 per cent annual growth rate in the market and expects cargo traffic to double over the next 20 years.
