Fernandes Dismisses Skymark Rumours

Tony Fernandes, the founder and CEO of AirAsia, has dismissed speculation that the Malaysian airline is considering buying shares in troubled Japanese low-cost carrier Skymark. On Twitter yesterday (August 18) Fernandes wrote: “Never seen such rubbish. AirAsia has no interest in Skymark … There have been no discussions with Skymark.” Fernandes said AirAsia was focused on a new airline. In July, the carrier confirmed that it was planning to re-launch AirAsia Japan next summer and had entered into negotiations with Japanese investors.
