First Cathay Pacific A350 Completes Maiden Flight

Airbus completed the maiden flight of the first A350-900 aircraft for Hong Kong-based airline Cathay Pacific in Toulouse on Friday (March 25).

Airbus completed the maiden flight of the first A350-900 aircraft for Hong Kong-based airline Cathay Pacific in Toulouse on Friday (March 25).

Following the maiden flight, the aircraft will now enter into a phase of production which will include cabin completion work, further ground checks and additional test flights before entering into service in Q2 2016.

Cathay Pacific has placed an order for 48 A350s, comprised of 22 of the -900 variant and 26 of the larger -1000 aircraft.

They are set to replace its current fleet of 777-200 and A340-300 aircraft, which the airline is in the process of retiring.
