Five people were killed last night (February 13) when an Antonov AN-24 crashed at Donetsk airport in Ukraine. The aircraft was attempting an emergency landing but overshot the runway, an overturned and broke up. Most of those on board were able to escape as the aircraft caught fire. The airport was covered in fog at the time of the accident. More than 40 people were on board the turboprop, which was carrying football supporters to the Champions League game between Shakhtar Donetsk and Borussia Dortmund. Odessa-based South Airlines had been operating the service.
