FLYHT Aerospace Solutions says it has won a contract from an unnamed Nigerian airline to install the ‘Automated Information Reporting System (AFIRS) 220’ on five A319 and A320 aircraft. The airline will use AFIRS to provide real-time flight data monitoring, including features such as automated Out, Off, On and In times, airframe and engine exceedances, flight tracking, and satellite voice communications. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has recommended that domestic airlines implement an intelligent flight tracking system to increase safety and improve efficiency. FLYHT will provide equipment and services to the airline over a two year contract with automatic yearly renewals after the initial term. Installations are anticipated to begin in the first quarter of 2013.
