Bahraini carrier Gulf Air has placed an order for 19 A320 family aircraft while also upgrading an existing order for 16 787s.
The state-owned airline confirmed at the Bahrain International Airshow on Thursday (January 21) that the order includes 17 A321neos and two A320neos.
In addition to a 10 A320neo order that was confirmed in 2012, the total order for the 29 aircraft amounts to $3.4bn.
The conversion of its Boeing order, valued at $4.2bn, will see Gulf Air switch from the 787-9 variant to the 787-8 with deliveries expected to begin in Q2 2018.
Gulf Air CEO Maher Salman Al-Musallam said: “This restructured order meets Gulf Air's future fleet requirement and our network expansion plans.”
