Indigo has become the first Indian carrier to have an aircraft equipped with Sharklet wing-tip devices. Airbus’ newly designed wing-tip devices were installed on the airline’s first A320 delivery, aiming to improve the aircraft’s aerodynamics and cut fuel burn and emissions by four per cent on longer sectors. Sharklets are an option on new-build A320 family aircraft and standard on the A320neo family. They allow operators to add around 100 nautical miles more range or increase payload capability by up to 450kg. All future A320 aircraft delivered to Indigo will be fitted with the wing-tip devices.
