Japan is on track to approve the new 787 battery system, its transport minister has said. A formal announcement to the effect could be made as soon as today. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has also made its support for the battery solution formal and Boeing is in the process of fitting the new system to its 787 aircraft, which have been out of service since January. Quick to react, LOT Polish Airlines has already started selling tickets for flights on the 787 Dreamliner. The airline plans to fly the 787 to Chicago from June 5, and later to New York, Toronto and Beijing.
