Flag carrier Korean Air has ordered five 777 freighter aircraft from Boeing valued at more than $1.5bn at current list prices.

The new orders will add to its cargo division’s all-Boeing freighter fleet, which includes 26 aircraft – 16 747-400s; five 747-8s; and four 777s.

The latest figures from IATA, published last week, confirmed that demand for air cargo grew 4.5 per cent in 2014, a "significant acceleration" from the 1.4 per cent growth recorded in 2013.
