South America’s largest airline group has announced plans to launch more international flights in 2015.

South America’s largest airline group has announced plans to launch more international flights in 2015.

LATAM comprises LAN Airlines and its affiliates and TAM Airlines. The group will launch a daily route between Milan and Santiago de Chile, via Sao Paulo, serviced by LAN Airlines using a 787.

Meanwhile, TAM will launch its first direct service between Barcelona and Sao Paulo, as well as flights to Toronto, Canada from Sao Paulo via New York and direct flights between Sao Paulo and Cancun, Mexico before the end of 2014. TAM is also set to start flying between Sao Paulo and Barcelona by mid-2015.

Alongside launching new routes, LAN is to increase weekly frequencies from 10 to 14 on its Santiago-Miami service.

In other news, LATAM Airlines has become the first airline group in the Americas to join the Dow Jones World Sustainability Index. LATAM is one of only two airlines currently listed on the index, the other being Air France-KLM.
