Authorities in Taiwan have confirmed that at least 23 people have died following the crash of TransAsia flight GE235 this morning (February 4).

Authorities in Taiwan have confirmed that at least 23 people have died following the crash of TransAsia flight GE235 this morning (February 4).

The ATR72-600 crashed into the Keelung River shortly after take off from Taipei Songshan Airport at around 10.55am local time.

Dramatic video footage has emerged of the crash showing the ATR72 clipping a bridge before entering the river.

The aircraft was carrying 58 passengers and crew, at least 15 of whom have been rescued from the part-submerged fuselage.

The cause of the crash is unknown, but the aircraft’s blackbox has been recovered.
