Lufthansa Technik (LHT) has signed a five-year contract with Aerolíneas Argentinas to carry out MRO services on its fleet of CFM56-5C engines powering the Argentinian flag carrier’s fleet of seven A340-300 aircraft.

The deal adds to existing partnerships between LHT and Aerolíneas, which include the German MRO providing maintenance on its fleet of 38 737NG aircraft as well as the CF34-10 engines on its Austral subsidiary’s fleet of 22 E190s.

The two companies have also agreed to set up a joint shop visit programme for the CFM56-7 engine type.

Aerolíneas will tear down the engines into modules in Buenos Aires and the repairs will be carried out at LHT’s Hamburg site.
