The last Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft has left the fleet of Antiguan carrier LIAT as it nears the completion of its transition to an all-ATR fleet.

Having started the move away from Bombardier to ATR jets in 2013, LIAT is scheduled to complete its fleet renewal programme later in the year when it takes delivery of its tenth ATR turboprop aircraft.

The airline said the decision to phase out the Dash 8, some of which it had operated for nearly 30 years, was influenced by a need to improve operational performance.

No details about the sale of the remaining aircraft to the undisclosed owner were confirmed.
