Lufthansa buys A320s for subsidiaries

Lufthansa has ordered 15 A320neos for its subsidiary SWISS and 10 current-generation A320s for Eurowings, its newly designated low-cost operation. An order for an additional 10 A320neos for SWISS is due to be confirmed at a later date. Meanwhile, Eurowings will receive 10 A320ceos as it transitions to an all-Airbus carrier from its current status operating Bombardier CRJ900 regional jets. As part of a new business plan, Lufthansa recently announced that Eurowings would form the backbone of the group’s budget airline operations, offering direct connections within Europe.
