In the first half of 2014, the Lufthansa Group generated an operating profit of €114m – close to three times the amount it achieved in the same period in 2013.

However, in announcing its first half year results the group remained cautious, arguing that pressure on ticket prices and the impacts of pilot strikes in Europe and the ongoing negotiation to reclaim funds from the Venezuelan government, had impacted its Q2 results.

The group confirmed that total revenue for the first six months of 2014 was 2.1 per cent lower than the previous year.

The results also revealed that while Lufthansa Technik achieved a first-half operating profit of €206m, this was €13m less than in 2013.
