Lufthansa Forecasts 13% Cut In Fuel Costs

German airline Lufthansa has predicted that its fuel bill will fall by 13 per cent in 2015.

German airline Lufthansa has predicted that its fuel bill will fall by 13 per cent in 2015.

Lufthansa estimates that it will spend €5.8bn ($6.8bn) on fuel in 2015 compared with €6.7bn ($7.9bn) in 2014.

Its calculation for 2015 assume a price for Brent crude oil of $68 a barrel, which is currently at its lowest price since April 2009, valued at $49.13 a barrel (January 12).

The carrier has also announced it will launch a new low-cost long-haul business, based in Cologne, in October under the Eurowings brand.
