Lufthansa Throws Weight Behind Climate Research Project

Lufthansa Group is supporting the government-funded climate research project IAGOS (In-service Aircraft for a Global Observing System). The project, which is integrated into the Federal Ministry of Education  and Research (BMBF) roadmap for research infrastructures, uses commercial aircraft to obtain atmospheric data at cruising altitudes, rather than using special research aircraft, an expensive and irregular process. According to the scientific panel appointed by the BMBF to oversee the project, IAGOS will close an important knowledge gap, resulting in more accurate climate forecasts.
