UK-based MRO Monarch Aircraft Engineering (MAEL) has signed a multiyear rate-per-flight-hour (RPFH) contract with AJW Aviation covering components support for Monarch Airlines’ fleet of 34 A320 family aircraft.

Under the contract, which starts this month, AJW will provide component supply and repair services, while MAEL focuses on line and base maintenance, Part M technical services and technical training.

Ian Bartholomew managing director of MAEL said: “We have been working with AJW in an ad-hoc capacity for many years and decided that we could utilise some of the proven operational efficiencies and cost savings that their flexible programme offers. By blending it with our services … we can build the optimum structure.”

Bartholomew also said that MAEL would gain access to technical data covering AJW maintained aircraft which would “transform” its service.
