Minsheng Strikes Sale-And-Leaseback Deal With Airberlin

China’s new leasing company, Minsheng Commercial Aviation, has struck a deal with Airberlin to help fund its delivery of aircraft. In what is the lessor’s first deal with a foreign customer, Minsheng will buy and lease back five used A320s plus two new deliveries in 2014, including one new A320 and one new 737-800. Minsheng also has the option to buy four 737s from Airberlin and to place them in the Chinese market. Ulf Hüttmeyer, CFO of Airberlin, said: "We are pleased to announce this important transaction for Airberlin which is further enhancing Airberlin’s financing portfolio by expanding our footprint within the Chinese financial market."
