The FAA has proposed fining US freighter operator Mountain Air Cargo more than $132,000 for the incorrect repair of a cargo door on one of the carrier’s fleet of ATR42 aircraft.

According to the regulator, Mount Air Cargo’s mechanics failed to follow an FAA-approved aircraft maintenance programme and the dent repaired exceeded allowable limits.

The FAA alleges the aircraft was then flown on 115 flights between August 7 and October 29, 2012.

Denver-based Mountain Air Cargo operates a fleet of 60 aircraft and counts FedEx among its clients. The cargo operator will meet with the FAA this month to discuss the case.
