MTU Extends Solaseed Air Contract

MTU Maintenance (MTU) has secured a 12-year MRO agreement worth €200m ($260m) with Japanese low-cost carrier Solaseed Air.

MTU Maintenance (MTU) has secured a 12-year MRO agreement worth €200m ($260m) with Japanese low-cost carrier Solaseed Air.

The contract covers all 24 CFM56-7 and -7BE engines powering the airline’s fleet of 12 737-800 aircraft.

In addition to engine maintenance, MTU will provide Solaseed Air with spare engines and onsite support.

The work will take place at MTU’s facility in Zhuhai, China. MTU and Solaseed Air started working together in 2011 with a maintenance agreement for its CFM56-3 engines.
