The latest round of negotiations between Lufthansa and the Verdi trade union aimed at resolving a wage dispute for the carrier’s ground staff has failed to yield a resolution.

Verdi, which represents 33,000 Lufthansa employees, has been negotiating with the airline group since March for a 5.5 per cent pay increase for employees in its maintenance, IT, service and cargo divisions.

Verdi board member and chief negotiator Christine Behle said that following the lack of resolution in the third round of negotiations, fresh talks will resume in Frankfurt on July 3.
